On Saturday, October 22, 2016, Sinkler Miller Medical Association will host its 33rd Annual Fall Benefit at the Greek Orthodox Community Center in Oakland, California. SMMA is a nonprofit 501 c3 organization and is supported by many sponsors in health care, business as well as the private sector who support the mission of recruitment and retention of Black physicians in the Northern California Bay Area. The purpose of the benefit is to award scholarships to empower young students of color to pursue their dream of a career in health care.
The evening will consist of both a silent as well as a live auction which will include sought after sports memorabilia, wine from Napa valley and the Tuscany region of Italy, a dinner party for 8 with a storied private chef and many other items. Scholarships will be awarded to high school, post baccalaureate, nursing and medical school students as well as residents. Scholarships are based upon academic achievement and financial need.
